Capernaum and Tabgha

Capernaum (Kfar Nahum) is an ancient city on the northern shore of the Sea of Galilee. It was here that Jesus based himself during his ministry after leaving Nazareth. Archaeological excavations have uncovered two synagogues and nearby you can see a church which is thought to have been Saint Peter’s home. The site appears to have been inhabited since 2nd century BC. Capernaum is mentioned several times in the New Testament, Jesus would preach in the synagogue here and it was here that he performed several miracles including the healing of lepers.Nearby is Tabgha, the site of the Miracle of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Bread.
