Qumran is located near the northwestern shore of the Dead Sea, it is best known as the site where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found in a series of 11 caves. However Qumran is a lot more than that, the site is an extensive archaeological site. The Visitors Center of the Qumran archaeological site has been made to look like ancient Qumran buildings. Inside you can see an informative film which will tell you a little about the site’s history. At the site you can see an ancient potter’s workshop, ritual baths, homes and the place where dates were crushed to make honey. From the Qumran site you can look out on the landscape and rocky mountains where the caves which held the Dead Sea Scrolls are located.
