The Western Wall

The Western Wall is the holiest site in Judaism as it is the last remaining retaining wall of the Second Temple which once stood on Temple Mount. The wall is also called the Wailing Wall and the Kotel. It is located in the Old City’s Jewish Quarter. There is a 57 meter long exposed section of the wall which faces a plaza where Jews gather to pray throughout the day. Other sections of the wall have been uncovered both above ground and beneath the surface.
