Nazareth – Church of Annunciation
This church is built on the site where the Archangel Gabriel came to Mary to tell her of the son she would have. The church is built on two levels, the lower level holds the remains of Byzantine and Crusader churches and the upper level is a more recent addition.
Nazareth – Church of St. Joseph
This beautiful church is built over the carpentry workshop of Saint Joseph, Jesus’ Earthly father and Mary’s husband. The church was built in 1914 over the remains of a Crusader church and the grotto in the basement is believed to be the original workshop.
Jesus based himself in Capernaum during his ministry in the Galilee, there have been extensive excavations in the city which have revealed two ancient synagogues where Jesus may have prayed and preached. Nearby is a site believed to have once been St. Peter’s abode.
Yardenit Baptismal Site
This is the traditional site where John the Baptist baptized Jesus in the River Jordan. Visitors have the chance to be baptized at the same site as Jesus when visiting Yardenit.
